Like Iraq, Northern Ireland was dominated by a minority, and the minority abused their power. Sectarian violence is generally a pretty ugly picture. And, in both cases, the 'insurgencies' have pretty good external funding, assuring that the troubles will be around for a while. One can only hope that the insurgents in Iraq are unsuccessful at taking their fight abroad, unlike the IRA. John Cairns |
