Some similarities. Like Iraq, Northern Ireland was dominated by a minority,
and the minority abused their power. Sectarian violence is generally a
pretty ugly picture. And, in both cases, the 'insurgencies' have pretty good
external funding, assuring that the troubles will be around for a while. One
can only hope that the insurgents in Iraq are unsuccessful at taking their
fight abroad, unlike the IRA.

The IRA does NOT want to be compared to Islamic
terrorists. No IRA incidents for a more than a few years
now, leaving that sort of dishonor entirely to Islam.
