people leave the original message in the reply. If they turned this off

their options, send section, the reading would be easier.

Only if you have the whole thread, and follow it in linear
fashion... not so easy on usenet. I quote sections of
previous message that I'm replying to, so you can tell what
I'm talking about.

OTOH to quote several long previous messages and adding "me
too" or maybe the ever-popular "what he said" at the bottom
is kind of annoying.

Actually, there's at least as much sailing discussion here
as there. But it seems to be going down hill lately.
