Default Seamanship Question #29 Log Line

Describe a "Log Line"?

How is a Log Line used?

How far apart were the knots in the original Log Line?

Why was this distance later changed?

What is the modern spacing of knots on a Log Line?

Why would navigators want to overestimate their speed?

Gary the idea it not to post a link, but to post a
written answer to the archives. No points for
posting a link.
