Default Mounting a Barometer

Something penned by Mooron made me wonder how one mounts nice anaroid
barometer, say a Belfort Instrument 6079, in a honeycomb bulkhead?

Cheers

First you have to enclose it in latex (unless you have an allergy to latex,
in that case use polyurethene)....

Aboard our 35s5, you can see them mounted close to the radio.

I'll remove them and replace with a better unit from Alien, though they
are nice enough.

I can think of two approaches: easy- glue a small piece of
plywood (maybe cut into a nautical shape & with a nice
grain, maybe stained to match the interior to the
abovementioned bulkhead and then screw the barometer to the
plywood. More technically involved- sand down the perimeter
of an area of the bulkhead about twice as large as the face
of the barometer, cut the fiberglass face of the bulkhead
within that area, remove the honeycomb (which is just a type
of core), rebuild with WEST System filler (maybe a mix of
403 bonding filler & 410 microlight) then laminate a new
face onto that area of the bulkhead. The new solid core will
hold small screws nicely.

If you're looking for winter projects on boats, come on down
I have plenty and the climate is nicer too!
