How the hell do you figure that??? Do you just make up random numbers?? Jeff, what numbers are you entering into sailcalc? Even Crusiing World got 18.7 for SWK version. I think its time for glasses, Bob. And you have to stop trusting everything you read. Beneteau publishes the IJPE, you should be able to figure it out yourself. Using those proper numbers, your SA is 554 for a SA/D of under 17.5. Using the SA and Disp listed by Bene you gain 20 feet of roach which makes it 18.07 http://www.beneteauusa.com/sail/prev.../first_355.php |

Sail area is listed in the manual, brochure and my Doyle spec sheet as
622. I think I'll believe the builder of the boat and sails. BTW, I do have the tall rig, which adds the small increase in SA. Most 35s5's carry a 110% in most conditions. We found it more than enough sailing in air below 8 knots. Size-wise, we carry... Mylar main 110 Mylar 135 Dacron 150 Mylar We sailed the boat, Jeff. And in light air. You can squeeze numbers until you turn blue. You only need to look at the wetted surface of the Nordica to know why it's rated slower than a tall rig Catalina 30. Snap out of it. This is another little squabble you lost! PS: If we ever decide to race the 35s5, we'll carry a rating of 126, which is the same rating the fellow in NJ had with his standard rig. How much LWL do we have over the Nordica and how much heeled? Look closely at the WL vs. the aft platform. RB 35s5-The best performance boat here NY |
