I was thinkin' since I was tweakin' Bobsprit about his boat, I should maybe
get some comparison data.

Well..... I went to the sailcalc site to see what the numbers were on
Bobsprit's new C&C35s5.

It's a great site to compare your boat with other vessels.

http://image-ination.com/sailcalc.html

Guess what!!.... I think it's the only C&C not listed.!!!!

Do you think the owners of C&C35s5s are embarrassed??

Really... why hasn't Bob entered his vessel data?? Could it be beyond his
abilities? ...or ????? :-)

Uh, Mooron. Could you be this dumb? Do you know that it's not a C&C?
And it IS on Sailcalc of course.

However, the specs for it are listed incorrectly. The sail area is
for a large genny, not the standard 100%, as needed to properly
calculate the SA/Disp. When the proper number is put in, we find the
the SA/Disp is actually less than the Nordica 30, which probably
explains why the bendy is so slow in light air. Sorry Bob, them's the
facts!

What is the proper sail area?

I've seen 574 for the standard rig, and 622 for the tall.

This leads to a SA/Disp of 17.6 for the bendy, using the disp listed
in sailcalc. I've seen it listed as a bit less, but RB claims a lot
of added gear. The Nordica 30 is a bit over 17, so I stand corrected,
the benny has a somewhat higher SA/Disp.

RB sometimes claims to have the tall rig, which would raise his
SA/Disp to over 19, but his broker says its the standard rig. Given
RB admitted tendency to lie, I think his broker's word has to stand as
definitive.

BTW, my SA/Disp is over 20, though loaded for cruising Its certainly
less. On the other hand, I don't have 2 A/C's or 3 TV's.

SA/Disp is a very rough figure - the difference between the bendy and
the Nordica is a few hundred pounds, or 25 feet of sail.

Anybody that thinks brokerage listings are accurate knows very little,
or
perhaps, nothing, about boats.

And that's Jeff to a T. When I called the broker he didn't even know
there was a canvas package included with the boat and he also thought
there was no wing.
But Jeff seems to be impressed with brokers. Standard rig SA/D is 18.7,
so Jeff couldn't even get that far. Tall is a bit higher at 19.58. Not
a dramatic lift, which is why some owners opted for it with the wing.
Poor Sloco let us all know what a sail expert he is by questioning the
combo.

These poor clowns sure make my job easy!

And that's boobie to a T - caught in a lie so he makes up another lie.
Don't you get sick of it, Bob? You better grow out of it soon,
because Thomas won't fall for it, either.

How the hell do you figure that??? Do you just make up random
numbers?? Using the brochure SA and Disp only a bit over 18, but
that's proper anyways - you might remember the SA/Disp is measured
with with IJPE, not with the roach included. Your number is roughly
17.5. If I include the roach in mine (remember I have full battens
and offset backstays) my SA/D is probably over 22.

Jeff, what numbers are you entering into sailcalc? Even Crusiing World
got 18.7 for SWK version.

I think its time for glasses, Bob. And you have to stop trusting
everything you read. Beneteau publishes the IJPE, you should be able
to figure it out yourself. Using those proper numbers, your SA is 554
for a SA/D of under 17.5. Using the SA and Disp listed by Bene you
gain 20 feet of roach which makes it 18.07
