Hmmm.. that's not been my experience. I mostly find Canadians to be a
heck of a lot nicer.

Would those be from the Canadian section of San Francisco?

I didn't realize there was such a section. I'll have to check it out
next time I'm in the city.

IIRC, it's called the Tenderloin. g

Giving bad directions have nothing to do with breeding or
intelligence.

Inbreeding, perhaps, and it certainly has something to do with being
observant. Or maybe Canadians just don't get around much.

Nah, I've gotten terrible directions from PhDs. And, I've gotten great
directions from near illiterates.

Got a lot of those in the Bay Area, do ya?

Great example of the latter... A friend was trying to give me
directions to his cabin in the woods near Tahoe. The basic highway and
major roads stuff was easy, but since it was winter time, none of the
house numbers were visible. His directions included the line, "When
you see a house that looks like it needs a fence, make a right." So,
my then girlfriend and I were driving along, and we see this house
that looks like it needs a fence. We make the right. The next set of
directions say that the house we're supposed to be at has a sign in
the front, but the sign is too small for the house. We discover that
there are a dozen real estate signs on the street. So, we keep
going. Eventually, we see a house with a very tiny sign in front. We
pulled into the driveway. No one was home, and he had told us to climb
in one of the windows, because he might be late and didn't have a key
(don't ask). So, we find an open window, climb in and wait. Sure
enough, my friend shows up in about an hour.

Of course, you have to realize we were all in our early 20s. :-)

Last year, eh? And your friend is a Cannuck, right?

Max
