![]() wrote in message ups.com... Its a 32' full keeler. It has a transom hung rudder that is the full depth of the keel. The tiller is clear of the deck. My Boat Bitch is blonde and can't use a tiller (Can you believe it). Yeah... I can believe it.... best to leave'em at what their best at... Galley and Berth duties.!!! :-) Whats a tiller clutch? It's a small rig with an adjustable clutch... which is just a sheave that has the turning tension adjusted by a turn screw knob. you can lock them down or just use it to stiffen the tiller. I believe the brand name is "Tiller Tamer" CM |

For God's Sake Man! Cut that thing off and glass
in a spade rudder! [BTW How was my CM imitation?] Despite the theatrics, seriously, I think it would be a good idea to get rid of that rudder. wrote Its a 32' full keeler. It has a transom hung rudder that is the full depth of the keel. |

I bought two Tiller Tamers a few years ago, remembering
one of my skippers had one and liked it. I found it was a PITA and after I broke the first one, I left the spare--intended for another boat in the bag. I don't like them. The plastic is cheap. If you take a chip out of one side, which is easy to do, then the line gets fouled up, and before you know it the whole thing is junk. A cleat on either side of the tiller and a piece of shock cord or light line is all you need. One thing I've seen that works well are a pair of blocks and some line lead to the companionway and cleated off there with cam cleats. Easy and fast to adjust and a sort of remote steering. Pictures please Errol! Tell us about the boat and how it
handles. It is a sloop rig? I bet it fore-reaches like hell when you try to heave-to. wrote Bart Thats what I do now but wanted something adjustable. Why do things the easy way when there's always a hard way. My boat is a 53 year old carvel sail boat made from a local timber called Jarrah. Beautifull boat and I have had her for 7 years. |

Have mercy on poor Errol You'll have him sailing
backwards like you do in Overproof! Well, even that would be ok if you did it on purpose... "Capt.Mooron" wrote EXCELLENT!!!! A Real Vessel!!! West Marine has a Tiller Clutch. Adjustable Shock cords with small blocks to the tiller. Use Jam or Clam cleats..... Is your vessel a double ender like mine? CM wrote Its a 32' full keeler. ![]() OzOne wrote in message Well yeah, I can afford them :-) So... are you comparing a cat to a double holer? But yes, I do like fin keelers, do you know you can turn one around in just over it's own length....nimble is the word. Nimble - an Australian term for a vessel that sails on it's ear at over 10 kts of wind. :-) CM |

![]() OzOne wrote in message Yep especially as most crab crushers don't have the grunt to push up a sea, get deiven backward and snap off that transom hung flappy thing. You just never mind there you fragile fin keeled floozies..... my vessel has way more punch than your puny, girly, fin keelers. The planet was explored with full keelers! Pirates sailed full keelers! Fishermen used Full Keelers! Only you panty waisted dock side Divas needed a boat specifically designed to never leave the harbour.!! CM |
