I've done a number of races that way. Cat-rigged dinks are pretty
easy, and sometimes don't sacrifice speed when doing so. I've also done a number of races without rudders. I'm guessing this has gone out of vogue since the advent of windsurfers, which is a similar competency, but more fun. Sailing backwards without a rudder is something I never mastered ...
