More J30 facts: Lack of sail area, slow upwind in light air. Can't go
upwind in a chop. So many owners were upset with performance that the class went with an oversized genny (163%) compared to every other boat that races outside the Matrix. That tiller that the Boob loves so much is connected to a barn door rudder that gives you the feeling your driving a bus. And in a breeze you need to be a gorrilla to drive the thing. Gee the Express 30 is a quickie upwind in light air (with an oven on board) and the designer had the foresight and brains to design a proper semi-balanced rudder. Oh, and if you didn't like the wheel you could have bought the boat with a tiller. In fact the boat is easly converted back to tiller once the wheel is installed. |
