Too any and all in the sailing and Catalina
communities. Charlie was not just a broker. Charlie was a gentleman, a sailor and a friend to all in Marina del Rey. Charlie lost his life last night while racing. Here is the Catalina announcement: --------------- With great sadness we report the death of Charlie Segal on April 20 , 2005. Charlie was crewing in the first Wednesday evening race of the Marina del Rey Sunset Series when he fell overboard, in spite of rescue efforts by fellow crew members, he was in full cardiac arrest when lifeguards pulled him from the water. He was taken to Daniel Freeman Marina Hospital, where he died. After working at Catalina Yachts in Woodland Hills. Charlie joined Catalina Yacht Anchorage in Marina del Rey in 1989, where he was the leading broker of new and brokerage boats. Charlie will be missed by both his colleagues and his large circle of friends, many of whom were also his customers. He will always be remembered as a professional who looked after his clients with integrity and concern, as an enthusiastic sailor, and for his generosity and dedication to his friends and family. Charlie, 46, is survived by his wife Rosie and four children; Andrew 15, Matthew 11, Hannah 8 and Sarah 5. Please feel free to call me with any questions. Perhaps he had a heart attack and then fell overboard? Could have happened that way. But I suppose it is better to remember a sailor and an all around good guy dying while doing what he loved. I guess either way he still died doing what he loved, didn't he? -- Captain Lon All your base are belong to us. "John Cairns" wrote in message ...
