Yelp it's a very smart move to carry spares while visiting other
countries. Back in 81 while working for Pemex in the Bay of De Campeche (mexico) we bent a 72" prop. Had to have one brought in from Texas. We had to pay a 100% import tax of 28 grand. From then on... any of our boats that went overseas carried 2 spare props and 2 spare shafts, 2 engine heads, radio, gyro, and any other equipment valued at over 10K that could fail. Joe |
