Q. How many ice cubes should one put in a 18 oz. glass of

rum &
coke?

6 standard cubes... or 8 cubes from the bar fridge!

Anything more causes undue displacement and waters down the

mix
to
unacceptable levels.

IMHO Bart earns at least a point every time he posts his good questions.

Real sailors don't need no stinkin' sissy ice cubes with their

rum.
That's
for girly boys such as Gaynzy and his hoe, BB the sissy pretend
sailor.

Tepid rum mixed half and half with water is a real day sailor's
drink.

Tepid? Day sailor?? Oh my!

Hot coffee, black - mixed half and half with rum is a
midnight-watch sailor's drink.

Add some mollasses.

JG March 4th 05 06:42 PM

Hey, wait a sec. All Bart's recent posts are on topic. Oh... Ok, I get it.

1. Greenland

Due to glacial rather than shelf ice.... Antartic is the opposite I believe.

2. The distance you made north.

It's a UTM Coordinate you dufus... like I said!

Okay Einstein... what type of ice allows passage. It's not like you can
negotiate a berg field. The only other ice capable of being broken and still
have sufficent pressure to shift and constrict is pack ice!

5. An iceburg approx the size of an average house.

Oh jeez... the "expert" spouts second hand info from the USCG site!

Joe you haven't seen either icebergs nor bergy bits... you haven't seen the
Northwest Passage while I've been on it. You haven't been in pack ice and
haven't seen candle ice. I have.!!!

CM

Joe March 4th 05 07:35 PM

Ok Dufas why did you not say "distance made north" you said UTM.

And I could fill my marina with icecubes and it would exert pressure on
my hull, ice cubes aint pack ice...sorry.

The information on the size of bergs and proper names comes from my
studies in the American Pratical Navigator, as does the description of
Growlers and why they are called growlers. Guess you know more about
bergs than Bowditch huh?

And your wrong I have seen rotten ice and icebergs. I told you I have
been to Point Barrow Alaska.

Look dickwad... Universal Transverse Mercator is a metric coordinate system
and Northing as well as Easting is utilized for postioning to whatever
decimal accuracy is required. What about this don't you comprehend??? You
can't have distance made north unless you have an original coordinate to
base it from... it could be distance made south! It's a position... and you
had to pass a navigation course??? Good Grief! You said you were in the US
forces... who do you think invented the UTM System Joe???

If the ice cubes were 40 feet across and 5 feet thick it would most
certainly exert pressure! You don't even know what pack ice is do you? You
can have both mechanically formed and naturally formed pack ice.

Oh good grief Joe.... I've been on ice bergs, pan ice, pack ice, bergy bits
and even grappled to candle ice. I thing I know what a growler, bergy bit or
iceberg is.

Alaska.... the Beaufort Sea.... I've sailed in it. I've flown it and I
worked North East of there on Banks and Victoria Islands. I've worked on
Melville and Devon Islands as well.
