Annual LURKER Check-In !!!

Annual LURKER Check-In !!!

For those of you lurking out there. This is the
annual Lurker Check-in.

Lurkers are those that read posts but do not post
responses or start threads.

You don't have to post anything intelligent, just
your handle and location, include boat name,
type and model, if you have one.

This is your big chance to get easy points.

If you don't check in, nothing bad will happen to you,
you will just remain POINTLESS!

1 point award per fact you provide.

Those of you that have posted and do not have any
points at all, or you are not sure if you have any points,
you can check in now for free alt.sailing.asa newgroups
points.

katysails February 26th 05 02:38 AM

Hi,
My name is katy and I'm a lurker.
I have a Kirie Elite 32 built in LaRochelle France, marconi rigged sloop
with an 18hp Volvo Penta diesel engine and sail the Sea of Michigan.
I also have a Butterfly named Katydid that is in the barn waiting to have
her hull sanded from the repair I made when some nefarious creature stove
her in...I also have a rowing dinghy named Chanty (big boat's named
Chanteuse) that is quite tippy but carts Mr Sails, me, Chooper the gigantic
poodle and all our stuff back and forth every weekend between May 1 through
October 15.
I am only posting this because I need to acquire more points since I
foolishly gave mine away to LP thinking she had a brain in her head, but
since she's decided to consort with pedophilic sailors, I think those points
should be annulled.

Bart;

Ole Thom here. I've been pretty busy with the posting but have to admit
I've been off course often with the damn "Social Event" topic. I working
on getting back on Topic (with the help of Crap-a-ton Neal) I've been
sailing a true course. We have been ragging one another, our boats, our
sailing and what ever. It has be good to talk sailing,

Got a Digital Camera (for myself for Christmas) and I love it! I was
making a pest of myself with single posting, so I built a Web Page. You
can look at them or not, as you see fit.

I'm a year older ( 78) and after this sailing season I'll be 79. 1st
week of Sept.

Had a new bottom put on "Pneuma" Last year and a new Main. Installed a
new fore stay and a new Harkens Furler.

Had a stroke of good luck. A new neighbor moved into the Cull-de-Sac and
is a Hobie sailor and I've taught him the joys of a Pilothouse Sloop
this Winter. Northwest Winter, here in Bellingham have been good.

Check the web page and if you want a picture of anything (grin) I'll be
glad to put it in my web.

Sorry to hear about your heart. I had the same procedure about four
years ago. Slow my pace down to accommodate it and doing fine.

Sailors tend not be be lame people. However, the lack of
a "lurker check-in" turn-out is disappointing. I can only draw
the conclusion that such people are lame for not checking
in, and therefor not sailors because they are lame.

If a few regulars check-in then at least it keeps the thread
alive for another few days. And who knows where it will go.

As far as points go. The one point'ers you have earned
have more value than gratuitous points given in this thread.

What is your first name JR? Or is that what you like to
be called?

Your response is good for 10 points! You are now a
blooded veteran.

More importantly, you are not POINTLESS! Everyone
should have a few points.

Thanks for participating.

When I was in the Air Force I had to evaluate my troops
on their performance reports. I thought that was pointless.
The lesson I learned was ratings don't matter, finding ways
to motivate people is what is important.

I started posing questions in here years ago. At some point,
I believe when I felt we were needed to get back to discussing
sailing, I started posing questions as a method of starting
sailing discussions. This is a tough crowd. I've had to put
some effort into coming up with good questions. Lately
I've been posing USCG questions which helped eliminate
arguments about the answers.

Other people have since posed questions and awarded points.
It is a fine tradition which I hope will continue long after I'm gone.

Since then it has taken on a life it's own. Once someone
complained about not having any points. My feeling is
everyone should be able to earn some. Why not?

The earliest recorded point awarded I found was 1 Feb 2002.
Can you find an earlier one? [1 pt]

They are two *totally* different boats.

I suspect that you haven't fully thought out your priorities.

Are you more interested in dockside comfort (Tartan), or performance afloat

I suspect that you haven't fully thought out your priorities.

Are you more interested in dockside comfort (Tartan), or performance afloat
(Beneteau)?
