How to Pray for a President
DEUTERONOMY 17:14-20

As Christians, we have a responsibility to pray for those in authority-fathers,
pastors, and all kinds of leaders. However, we must say more than "God, please
bless the President" or "Lord, help the pastor to preach a good sermon."
In order to pray effectively for the President, we must pray specifically,
namely, that he will . . .

1. Realize his personal sinfulness and daily need of God's cleansing power.
2. Recognize his personal inadequacy for the task and therefore depend
upon the Lord.
3. Reject all counsel that violates spiritual principles and then trust God to
validate him.
4. Resist pressure from individuals or special interest groups that would have
him act in violation of his conscience.
5. Work at reversing our country's trends toward socialism and humanism, both
of which dethrone the Lord and deify man.
6. Be ready to forsake his political career and personal ambition for the best
interest of the nation.
7. Rely upon the Word of God as his source of strength and key to success.
8. Be used to bring dignity, honor, trustworthiness, and righteousness to the
office of the presidency.
9. Be a good example to the fathers and sons of the nation.
10. Be reminded daily that he is accountable to Almighty God for his
attitudes, actions, and motivations while serving in office.

Joe the good Capt is just trying to encourage the heathens to pray for
our great leader. I just printed out 50 copies of Capt. Neal post to
bring to Washington with me. I'm heading out to DC here in about an
hour for the Presidential Inauguration & a couple of the after hours
balls. I plan to dance with both Jenna & Barbara in my new Red White
and Blue custom made Tony Lama cowboy boots. As a fellow Texas of your
president you should be grateful that Capt. Neal is so concerned. If I
get a chance to say hey to W, I'll tell him you said hello.

First of all, unlike you and unlike our President and Vice President, I
put my life on the line for this country. Since you are simply coasting
on the sacrifices of others, it might be nice if you were a bit more
humble and appreciative.

When others have physically demonstrated their patriotism, your
name-calling just shows your own cowardice & stupidity.

Secondly, again unlike you, I have been to many different countries
around the world. This is still a fine country and I don't think that
President Bush & Cheney can completely ruin it in their remaining four
years, although they certainly have made a running start.
