Last time I passed your mooring I was sailing at 9 knots - your little
banana boat has never been over 6 knots!

Wrong bourbon breath! Before my old knot instrument bit the dust,
when I was surfing down the face of large Gulf Stream waves, the
knot meter would occasionally peg on 12 knots.

Good one Neal! You're always good for a laugh! Of course, I can do 12
knots in a flat sea, all I need is about 22 knots of wind.

Twenty-two knots of wind and a MacGregor 65, maybe, but with your cat
you would have to toss everything overboard including the engines and
props to get that thing light enough to even come close to that speed.

Nope - honest truth - we did it a number of times when the boat was new.
Now there's so much crap on the boat (more distance trips with less
daysails) its a big thing when it goes over 10.5 knots. But my bigger
limitation is that I tend to reef at 20 knots of wind, a concession to
family cruising. Now if I kept the spinnaker up in strong winds, I
could get to 14 or 15.

You are correct that the stripped out version of my boat (one outboard,
tall rig, reduced weight, daggerboards) is a real screamer!

So, just like Gaynzy you have denigrated yourself by editing posts.

What's next? Gaying up any and all posts? Then stalking, then
permanent resident status in the psycho ward?

CN

Putz. It is a time honored tradition in usenet. Ask Scotty. In any event,
the truth hurts, don't it? One other thing, what's this obsession with
everything gay?

I love having a gay old time. It's too bad the fags have usurped the
true meaning of a once-respected word.

13.5 knots, on two occasions. Once under power (the mast was down), the
other time under sail. Both times were surfing down waves with a good
tail wind, about 25 knots.

As I mentioned, on the flat we've been to 12 knots a few times.
