You never did take a look at the cranes & ift booms supported at 25% or
less of their length, though. Since that thread, I've been looking
around, and it's amazingly common.

Yes I did..... and had to use hot sauce to eat that particular crow... but
that was not the point was it.... the point was that a greater load could be
handled by support at the end of the boom... and if you looked at all the
really big cranes this was indeed the case. Seems you skipped out on eating
your portion of crow... as usual.
