Scott and Scout;
Just wanted you to know there will be a Dutch Tradition at Christmas Dinner today at my Son's Home. I've baked three pies; An Amish Apple, a Raisin Pie (Funeral Pie) and a Cherry. I became a real fan of Pa Dutch baking and missed it so much here in the NW. I learned to bake their pies after my wife died. I've gotten pretty damn good at it. Enough so. that I get requests for the pies. Even from the Bellingham Police department. ( My Daughter-in-law works there) Scout, I lived in Philly for thirty-two years. Twenty of them in Lower Bucks ( Blue Ridge Section of Levittown) Worked for the Atlantic Refining Company on Passyunk Ave. Commuted on I-130. Ole Thom |

Merry Christmas Thom,
Count me in for a slice of each pie! Don't forget the shoo-fly though, it's my favorite of the Amish varieties! I grew up in Indian Creek, right across from you!! I was on Inwood Road, I'll be we weren't more than a mile apart. How 'bout that! I went to Immaculate on Emily Road, then Bishop Egan, then Woodrow Wilson. Re Arco: You probably knew some of my steamfitter brethren at the refinery (L.U. 420). Scout "Thom Stewart" wrote in message ... Sounds good Thom. We had a nice family gathering at my Moms house.
Turkey and all the trimmings. She made apple pie and pumpkin pie and we imported a pecan pie from VA. Oh, and two big cans of Christmas cookies. I learned to make sweet potato pie when I had to move away from some sweet little old Baptist ladies who used to cook for me. Over twenty years, I've learned to make it well enough that friends & nephews rave about it (it's rare for a pie to survive a sitting) but I still haven't gotten it quite as good as they used to make. CM,
A good pie but this is Berry Country out here and they make a Strawberry-Rhubarb pie with a struesel topping that is ; "to Die for!!!" It is one of my favorites. A fresh Crab Louis and a piece of S-R pies is one of the Summer favorite meal on "Pneuma" during summer sailing/ crabbing season. Served with instant Folgers.
