I don't think you understand the concept of the keys. Store blankets and
a sleeping bag in a 27 foot boat for the (maybe) 10 nights a year that
they'd be needed? All those fumes from your engine must be collecting in
the pilot house and effecting your reasoning. Have another drink, Ole
Thom.

CN,

Why in the Hell would you run a heater at night while sleeping? Don't
you use Blankets and sheets or a sleeping Bag with liner?

That my friend, has me doubting your whole post. If you had said you
ran your heater all day or to get the chill off during a chilly
evening, until going to bed. Any sailor worth his salt would never
waste fuel while sleeping. Even if the temperature was below freezing,
which I'm sure it wasn't in Florida, a warm boat before going to sleep
would last till morning.

The Post sounds strangely familiar to the broken mooring line story. A
make believe.

Lines don't brake in the middle and Sailors don't use fuel while
sleeping in moderate Climates.

Several.

Depends upon the chain. I must admit stainless steel anchor chain
is a definite turn-on because it doesn't rust and it seems to shed
mud and other bottom goo better because of the polished surface.

It also looks so classy on the foredeck. Too bad it costs an arm
and a leg.

Congradulations on installing a heater for this winter. Good timing

"All that chain laying about?" You must think me a putz or
something. I, too, keep most of the chain in the chain locker.
However, there is the matter of the length that lies between
the hawsepipe and the anchor itself. This amounts to a couple
of feet on my yacht. Also there is the back-up anchor and
rode which must be readily at hand for fast deployment.
This I keep in a loose loop tied on the port side of the
forward deck. The stainless steel chain is part of the rode
of course.

Any sailor who relies primarily on a single anchor and does
not have a back-up ready to deploy immediately will sooner
or later come to grief.
