Ran my home made cabin heater last night
Sounds like a good ideal. Better patent it first.

any noticeable problems with condensation in the cabin?

None at all last night.

CN,
Why in the Hell would you run a heater at night while sleeping? Don't you use Blankets and sheets or a sleeping Bag with liner? That my friend, has me doubting your whole post. If you had said you ran your heater all day or to get the chill off during a chilly evening, until going to bed. Any sailor worth his salt would never waste fuel while sleeping. Even if the temperature was below freezing, which I'm sure it wasn't in Florida, a warm boat before going to sleep would last till morning. The Post sounds strangely familiar to the broken mooring line story. A make believe. Lines don't brake in the middle and Sailors don't use fuel while sleeping in moderate Climates. Ole Thom |
I don't have my whole life to try to convince you I am the real
Captain Neal. Just e-mail Katysails and she'll tell you I am who I am. I run my heater at night because it's cold at night. I don't think you understand the concept of the keys. Store blankets and
a sleeping bag in a 27 foot boat for the (maybe) 10 nights a year that they'd be needed? All those fumes from your engine must be collecting in the pilot house and effecting your reasoning. Have another drink, Ole Thom. Thom Stewart wrote: CN, Why in the Hell would you run a heater at night while sleeping? Don't you use Blankets and sheets or a sleeping Bag with liner? Depends upon the chain. I must admit stainless steel anchor chain is a definite turn-on because it doesn't rust and it seems to shed mud and other bottom goo better because of the polished surface. It also looks so classy on the foredeck. Too bad it costs an arm and a leg. CN |
Sorry...no stainless...and we keep ours in the locker..who wants all that

Congradulations on installing a heater for this winter. Good timing

"All that chain laying about?" You must think me a putz or something. I, too, keep most of the chain in the chain locker. However, there is the matter of the length that lies between the hawsepipe and the anchor itself. This amounts to a couple of feet on my yacht. Also there is the back-up anchor and rode which must be readily at hand for fast deployment. This I keep in a loose loop tied on the port side of the forward deck. The stainless steel chain is part of the rode of course. Any sailor who relies primarily on a single anchor and does not have a back-up ready to deploy immediately will sooner or later come to grief.
