It's your mission to help others dream of what could be?
Scout "Capt. Neal®" wrote in message ... I could write about many sailing topics related to living aboard and cruising for long periods of time. Topics such as provisioning a small boat, caring for a pet who requires special prescription food, using Photoshop and a cheap printer to produce various legal documents that fool the authorities, anchoring in all conditions so as not to drag and to get a good night's sleep even when the wind is howling, having the tools, spares and smarts to fix any mechanical problem that might arise underway, balancing the helm by trimming sails so they assist the tiller, generating all the electrical power that is needed by using the sun, surviving hurricanes and tropical storms, catching supper with a Hawaiian sling, etc, but who here other than me cruises.? It seems to me this group is a haven for day sailors, trailer sailers, motor boaters, over the hill commercial captains, psychotic left coasters, Long Island Sound homers, round the buoy Saturday afternoon club racers, housewives, and strip club frequenters. What interest would such as these have in the techniques learned over long years of living aboard and cruising? CN "Overproof" wrote in message news:GxPsd.323357$9b.104842@edtnps84... I have to agree with Nav on this... ever since Capt Neal arrived.. I've noticed an increase in sailing related posts. Not Like I'm helping the situation of course... just pointing to the facts as I see them. I do try and make an effort ... but really... everything from guns aboard to halyard tension has been covered in detail several times over. It's like re-reading a 1995 edition of Cruising World ... sometimes... you just can't bother to reply. CM "Nav" wrote in message ... John Cairns wrote: "Nav" wrote in message ... But the only people talking about sailing these days are CN and MC. Call yourselves sailors? Cheers Well, lets examine this. Some of Nil's recent posts: Make Gaynz angry. Bobsprit=Mr.Mom Less than 36 hours. Good movie OT-Go Dolphins In case you haven't noticed, most of the posts here aren't sailing themed, at best someone might drag sailing into a thread. At least he talks about sailiung and started a sailing thread with picures. Cheers |

It hurts too much to talk about it when your boat is sitting on her cradle,
freezing to death, and there's another ice storm on the way....(at least that's what they just said on the weather report...) "Nav" wrote in message ... But the only people talking about sailing these days are CN and MC. Call yourselves sailors? Cheers |

Two days of weather between 20-25C, warm (ish) water and a good breeze.
Getting off the lee shore sans power was interesting but once we escaped into enough water to get the c/b down, it was a lotta fun. Only thing we forgot was the 6-pack of Coopers Dark Ale, but there was plenty in the refrigerator when we got back. ATM I get to sail every day or 2, before or after work depending on the tide & wind. Ice storms? What are they? It's T shirt weather with long sunny days and cool nights. I'm sailboatless for the near future. In the meantime, I'm counting on this
bunch of desperados, ne'er-do-wells, fabricators, curmudgeons, hypocrites, liars, neurotics, psychotics, alcoholics, malcontents, and well, in other words, sailors, to help me feel like I'm still at sea. There are seafaring folk, and there are those shoreside *******s.
That's the important distinction. PDW In article , Scout wrote: I'm sailboatless for the near future. It's not really sailing, but I spent a few hours this weekend on a sailboat helping a friend with his electrical system. Transaltion- I spent far too long standing on my head futzing with the connections on his batteries, which were sloppy, corroded, and loose. He said "I'm sure that's not the problem" but oddly enough, when I had cleaned, No-Ox'ed, and tightened everything, we could not duplicate his earlier problem. Go figure. Fresh Breezes- Doug King |
