It seems the currents and shoals are uncharted and extend a great distance seaward. I would love to coastal cruise down to the Horn, round it and then try a long blue water voyage to the South Sea islands just because once you start there's no going back and every real sailor should traverse the Pacific Ocean - the mother of all oceans - in his lifetime. Not that there's any remote possibility of Crapton actually doing it, but I'd strongly suggest staying away from California.
