None of my friends ever considered it despite some lucrative offers to
retiring military - especially Old Crows. They say "It's a nice place to
visit but ....."

Your experience differs from mine. Many hold dual citizenship, spending a
great deal of time in both countries. And even among those with no desire

to
leave, the existence of one country that must take them in if conditions
here deteriorate for them is a great comfort.

True. Like I said a nice place to visit but ....

I'd suggest a trip to Eastern Europe before making a call about
"comfortable.". Visit the ghettos of Prague and Krakow, and investigate

some
of the rural areas of Poland and the Ukraine.

"Comfortable" is relative. Many Euros stayed home rather than come to
America. These places seemed better than the alternative until Nazis and
Commies came along.

Large numbers were leaving Eastern Europe long before anybody ever heard

of
Hitler. My wife still harbors a great distrust of Poland, Russia and the
Ukraine based on what she heard from her parents, aunts and uncles, all of
whom left before the 30s.

To go to Palistine? I thot most, just like the Irish and other non-Jewish
Euros looking for a better life, came here.

Sure, but only if you're a native Canadian living next to Mooron who dosen't

Thom Stewart December 1st 04 08:30 PM

Vito,

Your History is really screwed up again. Where in the hell do you get
these crazy fact you issue.

First of all, after the defeat of the Ottoman Empire in WW1, the British
working thru the League of Nations created the Boundaries of the
countries of the middle East. Palestine was stated as the homeland of
the Jews. They were the only people that had a limit on the number of
them that could live there. The limit being the ability of the land to
support them. Since Palestine was a protectorate, the British enforced
the Jewish immigration. When the Jews made the land blossom, to support
more people the Palestinians objected and the British forced the limits
on their immigration after WW2.

Point 2; The Jews did not INVADE as you say. They settled on land set
aside for them by the United Nations. It was the Arab nations that
first used Armed Force against the Jews. They, as a group swore to drive
every Jew into the sea. They were outsmarted and out-fought by the new
nation. Time after time.

Ole Thom
