I acquired a nearly 30 yr old 470 last fall and have sailed it a handful of
times this year and I'm not done yet. I still have to come up with a spinnaker pole and haven't used the trapeeze yet, partly since I'm usually driving. But I've had a blast with it so far. I learned to sail at Y camp when I was 9 and got to do alot of it while I was in the navy, but this is the first boat I've owned and I'm pushing 50 after my next birthday. I have pics of the boat along with questions. Anyone interested in looking and/or offering opinions? I'm not sure if the trapeeze rig and the attachments to the boat are there completely or not. I was out last with enough wind to "need" the wire and yet had a complete rookie as my crew and we ended up washing the sails in Higgins Lake MI. I think my daughter woulda jumped up on the wire but alas she was not onboard. The spinnaker is another area that I'm not sure what's missing, I have halyard and that's it. No sheets on it, no pole and no topping lift. Oh yeah, when we washed the sails, I'm not sure if we tipped first or if I fell off first, but when she went over she went all the way turtle. I used to capsize a sunfish on purpose in Charleston in the navy, it was the only way you swim ![]() Anyhow, looking fwd to corresponding with some of you. Juan |

You can drive from the trap. No sheets on it, no pole and no topping lift. You definiteily need sheets & pole. I'd recommend getting the modern single-end pole set-up with it launched from the boom. It is far better than the way the boat is most likely rigged. What mast do you have? Fresh Breezes- Doug King |
