BTW, had 600lbs incl engine in my 10' portabote this weekend chugging
around Oyster Bay, No speed records, but no problems either. Smooth, comfortable and dry. I'm think the 12 would work good for us...we're 3 now! RB |

Bob... you are fixated on a four stroke... don't bother. A two stroke is just fine for your use and much cheaper. My 9.9 is easily handled with one hand and hoisting into place on the rail when stowed is a piece of cake. In regards to advise Bob... you asked.. don't start whining now! I have over 40 years experience with kickers. I won't give you bad advise. CM |
Motorhead!
"Capt. Mooron" wrote in message ... I concur on that choice. Excellent vessel. ... mind you the exhilaration delivered by a 7.5 foot Zodiac RIB with a 15hpMerc capped by a 9.9 decaled cowling is wondrous as well! :-) CM wrote in message ... | On Tue, 7 Sep 2004 18:20:34 -0300, "Capt. Yeah Baby!
Tel me how surfing at 25 kts on a piece of inflated rubber with a big kicker throwing a rooster tail wouldn't be described as fun???? Now do it standing up! CM "Scott Vernon" wrote in message ... | Motorhead! |
"Capt. Mooron" wrote in message Bob... you need a 9.9hp to achieve plane. Agreed. My wife and I could plane our 10' Zodiac with a Merc 6hp, but it took a lot of forward leaning, and a set of cavitation plate fins helped immeasurably. A 10hp outboard makes the whole process easy, unless you and your wife are midgets. Max |
Bob... you are fixated on a four stroke... don't bother. A two stroke is
just fine for your use and much cheaper. There are no two strokes available here anymore. All dealers must sell the superior and cleaner 4s. The 4s are quiet and require no fuel mix as well. RB |
That will push it just fine. Another nice thing about the Portabote is you can
drag it across rocks and broken glass as often as you please without damage. Bill...I'm looking at the 12 foot version. I'd like the extra capacity. What kind of speed do you think I'll get with two adults using a 6HP? RB |

One thing to bear in mind, is that a hard shell tender is tender. They take
more care, particularly when climbing in. "Bobsprit" wrote in message ... That will push it just fine.
