In Scotty's case, estimating 25 when it was 18 to 22 with gusts to 25 isn't too
bad. Especially when you consider there could have been a current of 2 to 3 knots that could effectively increase the apparent wind. Scotty reported 25 knots SUSTAINED. The real report for his area shows 25% less. He never mentioned currents and the pinhead has no instruments. Some trip report. RB |
