Default Gennaker Use?

Marty, I rig mine with twin sheets in the clew, with the Lazy Sheet
going forward outside of everything. Over the forestay, over the bow
pulpit, outside all stays and riggings.

He let the lazy sheet go slack and it went under the boat. He decided the
double sheet wasn't such a good idea. How do you keep that from happening
when single-handing?

1- keep the lazy sheet taut so it drapes instead of falling

2- mount a small projection, like a spare batten, from the stemhead.

3- don't rig it that way, rig the lazy sheet inside (between the luff &
the forestay). This has the disadvantage that the sail has to blow
through a small gap when gybing, but it works on many boats. Works best
on asymmetrics with a sprit.

4- Get the Vice President's office to issue a memo saying that it's not
a problem, has never been a problem, and never will be a problem. That
way only libby-rull Deomcrat traitor sheets will get under the boat.
Downside: this could be really really expensive since a hamburger lunch
with Dick Cheney costs $25,000

Bad idea, it's sure to snag and rip a sail.

Hey Guys,

Let's remember the sail we're flying. It's a Gennaker. Clew higher than
the Tack. If you. If you are setting the Tack pendent on the stem the
sail is flying inside the Bow pulpit. If you have the end of the sheet
secured, the clew is about 5 ft above the deck. If you let the sail's
tack rise on the pendent the clew will be over 6ft high (always higher
than the tack) At that heigth it going to take a very dumb sailor to
get it under the boat

If it's "sure to" then how come that hasn't happened to me once in lo,
these many years I've been doing it?
