The actual term, Alzheimer's, didn't come until later, but he and his doctors knew he was ill before the term was applied to his case. It's possible that Reagan's doctors noticed that he had problems in this area while he was still in office, after all he perceived reality in a different way all his life. But he wasn't diagnosed with Alzheimer's until six years after he was out of office. That's a long gap for a diagnosis. DSK |
