Rust on a mooring chain - New (2001) mushroom anchor, chain and float ;
never out of the water. I pulled the top 5 feet of chain up through the mooring float and noticed perhaps a 1/16 inch of scale rust on many links. I had assumed most rust was due to chains coming out of the water for the winter and sitting in boat yards.Is this due to galvanic action in my mooring field ? Would some zinc on the chain help ? |
