.... and floating nicely secured to her mooring. Launched with a 34 ton crane
at 1010hrs. Engine started at first push of the button. [ the mast not stepped at the time]. All boats stepping masts were done at the same time and I organized all the other owners to work as a team to step and secure with the crane working to hoist. Lots of newbies this year... lots of questions.... lots of learning. It was cool in the morning but warmed up to 30c by 1300hrs. One of the hottest days this year. Nothing feels nicer than when your sailboat is finally launched. Unfortunately.... I have to leave for work today. Cape Breton Highlands National Park at a work site along the edge of a 200 ft sheer slate cliff overlooking the ocean. Really nice eye candy...... I'll be back next weekend for a sail. Heh... not all of us are Ebay Sales Moguls that can afford to sail every day! ;-D CM |

Just to let you know, Mooron...while we were at the dock today, a guy across
from us pressure washed his boat...on the outside....want to know one thing...what keeps the caulk from uncaulking itself when you run that much water at that much pressure? -- katysails s/v Chanteuse Kirie Elite 32 http://katysails.tripod.com "Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." - Robert A. One of the hottest days this year. Wow, that's warm enough that I'd go out without a jacket ![]() I'm curious how long your spring season lasts though... how long ago was the last freeze? Nothing feels nicer than when your sailboat is finally launched. Agreed, but we kept ours in the water all last year. Unfortunately.... I have to leave for work today. Sounds like you are at least keeping busy and well entertained. Good luck with the job and don't wander off that cliff! katysails wrote: Just to let you know, Mooron...while we were at the dock today, a guy across from us pressure washed his boat...on the outside....want to know one thing...what keeps the caulk from uncaulking itself when you run that much water at that much pressure? Luck, mostly. Pressure washers can strip out caulking if not used carefully. Last year when we were in the boatyard, a guy used one to clean off the hull of an old wooden boat he was "restoring" (he'd already nailed on a boxy plywood deck & cabin). He blasted it right through most of the seams, and found that he could actually cut wood with the thing. When doing caulked seams or any kind of crevices, it's smart to adjust the pressure and the nozzle so that you can clean out the gunk and not destroy anything important. Fresh Breezes- Doug King |

I don't have a strake planked boat... no caulking to worry about...
everything else is sikaflex. No Problemo! Correct Scotty.... 34 tons is dead lift with the boom at max elevation....
start lowering that exponentially with every degree of angle..... at 45 degrees it will be at max capacity at maybe 4 tons. I usually use a 150 ton crane. That has a hard time with a 42 footer.... at 20 k. CM "Scott Vernon" wrote in message ... | | "DSK" wrote in message | . .. | Capt. Mooron wrote: | | ... and floating nicely secured to her mooring.
