To clarify some issues:
otnmbrd wrote: You'd need to check on this to be sure, but I believe a "government" vessel only flies the flag of it's National "government". Also, when a civilian vessel passes a "government" vessel, flag etiquette requires it to dip it's ensign. (g rarely done nowadays) Again, this is from memory and would need confirmation to be sure. otn Joe wrote: Mooron stated that the USCG Eagle while in Canaduh was flying a 40X60 foot flag. I always thought when visiting another country your were suppose to fly thier flag as well as yours. And that flag is suppose to be as big as yours. Not necessary. And the flags were to be flown at the same height. I know while I worked supply boat in the Bay of Campeche Mexico they made a big issue of it. True or not? You'll find this issue in a number of countries. Again, from memory, their flag should be flown higher than yours. And why and when do you dip your flag? Joe |
