Wing keels have a tendency to imitate a Bruce anchor. Some on the Chesapeake
have found out that if you go aground with them on mud or sand the wings bury and a tow is frequently the only way to get free. We asked about that and were told that wing keels are not good on the shoals...that they tend to bury themselves and you can't get off without Sea Tow or someone coming to give you a shove.... By "Estero Island" did you mean Ft. Myers Beach? Yes...Fort Myers Beach is on Estero Island Did you go to the bird sanctuary on Sanibel? With 15 foot marauding alligators dining on women? Nah.....Went to Lover's Key.... James Johnson remove the "dot" from after sail in email address to reply |

Scotty admitted: There's a dealer for them near here. Looked at one while
shopping for a daysailor. Beatifull boat! Some acquaintances of ours had one for several years...prettiest daysailor I've ever seen and truly functional...they are very expensive, though, but hold their value well. And how many 15 ft boats can you rig with a spinnaker? -- katysails s/v Chanteuse Kirie Elite 32 http://katysails.tripod.com "Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." - Robert A. I'm quoting them right off their Beettle Cat Web site.
They feely admit their lack of skill. I wouldn't include laser sailors. I'd rate them on the other end of the scale. Bart. DSK wrote Hoo-wee... Bart that is really a wild statement. Would you include Laser sailors in that sweeping generalization?? ... You'll see evidence of this on their web sites where its stated they never reef or go out when it's windy. http://www.beetlecat.com/reefing.htm |
