actually, donny, I just did an explanation of how radio compasses worked and
how to figure accuracy of output so as to not hit the granite ledges off a fog bound Maine coast. you can go look it up, if you wish. particularly if there is potential you might some day actually sail and sail a big ocean all the way left, and do it on a boat without gazillions of electronic thingies onboard. the thread is interesing in at least one respect because we had one poster here, jeffies I believe it was, who claimed to have used a paper sextant in the fog to tell his position. not sure how he kept the paper from falling apart in the moisture, but he said it worked just fine. This he knew because he didn't hit any granite ledges. Did you have anything to contribute? Eh, Jax? |
