Default Lifelines Part II

Thom,

You are quite right about the Cal 20 class and lifelines. I used to own a
Cal 20 and race it in San Pedro, California (Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club). The
Cal 20 fleet is very active in L.A. and Long Beach harbors. Mine did not
have lifelines, nor do I recall any of the many 20's in the fleet having
them. I no longer own a C20 (I now have a 30 footer), but my present slip is
immediately adjacent to the dry storage yard for CBYC and I did not observe
lifelines on any of the 20s currently stored there. Plus, there is a storage
yard about two blocks from there with about 5 or 6 C20s in various stages of
renovation--no lifelines on those, either.

I'm not saying that nobody has ever put lifelines on a C20, but I've not
seen it. In any case, it most definitely was not *required* equipment for
class racing--unless, of course, our entire fleet was out of compliance!

Cheers,
Alan Gomes

Is you would go back and re-read my post, you would see that I have the
Col 20
Listed as a racing boat that doesn't use lifelines. Also listed are many
class racers that don't require "Lifelines" Why haven't you replied to
the old fart about them.

I guess we can File Jax's knowledge of racing requirements along with
his knowledge of the "Gulf Stream" location. Fuel use of small diesels
and Lifelines-----

Oh well; As the old saying goes; "It's a GREAT THING TO LOSE A CLOSED
MIND!!" Right Jax? You are now excused from the discussion until Nutsy
gives you, Susy, Bill and himself the line to follow. You all have been
BUSTED from the original topic; "LIFELINE HEIGHT!"

"Piloting" includes a variety of techniques, but I've only heard one definition

"EP," not "DR."

G Guess my "formal" training differed. The only time I ever used "EP"
was with a sunline, and once in the real world, I learned that was
fairly useless.
As stated, "DR" has formal definitions, but in practice, people apply it
differently (which includes the use of knowledge of currents and wind to
adjust for set and drift)..... again, the fact you don't include set and
drift in DR work, and I do, is not important, as long as during the
discussion we are aware of the other's usage.

I've never seen on in the SF bayarea with lifelines either. I believe there
are something on the order of 200 active on the bay.

dougies, are you aware that "sophist" and "pig" are synonyms?

No, thanks for pointing that out.

Everybody (incuding Bob Perry) already knows what JAXAshby is a
synonym for.

the discussion was actually that you're a very close second to
a second-hand toilet.

donny, the discussion was not about J class racing, now was it.

Jax (toilet!!),

Were you stupid enough to think that all yacht racing required lifelines?

Do a Google on "J Class Racing".

The finest racing yachts on the ocean sail without lifelines. In fact,

no
self respecting J Class yachtsman would be seen dead on a boat with
lifelines.

Here's a photo that was taken a couple of years ago. This yacht was

racing
when the picture was taken. You may notice that this boat doesn't have

any
sissy lifelines.

Once again, Jax, you prove that you are a complete twit.

No Alain,

It's Jax who is out of compliance. He knows he is wrong and is trying to
palm off a lie on the Group.

old codger, you have moved the discussion way off base, apparently just to find
some small area you can claim represents the entire universe, and in the
process you are going so far as to claim -- as you do below -- that the Gulf
Stream is a river constrained by physical banks so as to always be in the same
place, and effect you are saying the Jennifer Clark is peddling bull**** for
money.

jonny is no racer and knows nothing about racing or lifelines or jacklines or
tethers or much of anything else on boats. jonny is a fag ****ed at the world
because 98% of all men have no interest in his lifestyle type and most of the
final 2% have no interest in him. you, old codger, are just old.
