Geeze, what a bunch of crap, get the most powerful De Walt you can justify paying for and a pocket inverter. Also get an extra battery. I use them every day in my job, you cannot beat De Walt for service, availability and initial quality. Finally, somebody with some decent advice. We use De Walt exclusively, two 24 V hammers, 4 18 V drill/drivers, an 18 V circular saw and an 18V reciprocating saw, plus of course a whole mess of batteries. Cheers Marty |

A brand new Porter Cable POLSIHER # | 7336SP is 2500-6000 RPM. Are you going to get one and use it as a "grinder"...???? Bwahahahahahahahaaaa!!! | Unless your boat is pretty new, you'll be using the upper RPM ranges once you | know how to handle it. Yeah... sure there Tim the Tool man! You'll need the 10k RPM to put wax on older hulls!! Bwahahahahahahaaaaa!! Some grinders do up to 10'000 rpm fixed with NO load, | and even that's fine with a big pad. It slows down a lot when applying | wax/compound. Even skilled autoshops will use them, though paint buring is a | risk. I can't even begin to tell you how totally wrong this entire statement is Bob.... not without picturing your "Professional Grade Variable Speed B&D Grinder!!!!!! Bwahahahahahahahaaa!! | Sorry, BOB CARROL. I actually own and use these tools, so you can't come in and | hope to make crap up. You do Bob..... | BUSTED AGAIN! You certainly ARE! CM |

Bwahahahahahahahahhaaa | | Hate to pop your balloon, Capt., but B&D did make some professional-grade | tools a while back. They weren't cheap, and they were top-notch. It's only | been within the past decade that B&D went the cheap consumer tool route. You're not poping my balloon at all Max.... I have an almost identical grinder in the lathe shop as Bob's... it's a B&D but it's not variable and it's a brute. My B&D 1/2" drill is over 15 years old. Now the question is would you use a grinder as a polisher.... or would you label a grinder as "Professional Grade"??? Bob's just having some fun and so am I! God forbid some newbie to sailing takes a cue from Bob and tries "buffing" a hull at 10K RPM with a Grinder!!!...... CM |

I concur on DeWalt.... I only buy their tools now. No questions asked and
both problems over the last 5 years.... both tools were past the warranty date and were serviced for free... one repair and one replacement. They replaced my plunge-router which was a refurb with a brand new upgraded model. You just can't beat after market service like that! The tools are well built. I found the 18V circular a bit light for most wood work. I also found the batteries tend to go quick under prolonged and constant loads. Nice tools for a quick job or repair though. Great for around the boatyard. To bad Bobsprit isn't allowed to work on his boat at the boatyard. He'd buy a set in a jiffy! CM |
