Well Joe, in most parts of the world a "Yacht" is a sailing vessel, but not a sailing dinghy. So a Yacht is any vessel with sails that is longer than about 18 feet. To become a yachtie, one has to sail on a sailing vessel that is more than 18 feet long. The term "yacht" can also be used to describe some ostentatious motor vessels - but their crew would never be described as yachties. Regards Donal -- |
