How can Horvath know so little. On the average it costs 3 times more to
execute
someone. The legal costs involved are astronomical.

AH HA! the "legal" costs are astronomical! The actual chemicals are
cheap. So all we have to do is remove the appeals process.

The "point" is that you're wrong. It costs far more to execute someone. Period.
The appeals process is here to stay and for good reason.

Because of what? The chemicals only cost a few bucks. The lawyers
are expensive. Get rid of the appeals process, and the cost of
executions becomes cheap.

Didn't you just type this twice?

FYI:

Actual costs of execution WITHOUT legal elements:

The Department of Corrections reported a negligible fiscal impact associated
with the switch in execution method. The department would have to either build
or purchase the associated equipment. The department also reported the cost of
one execution by electrocution as follows: executioner's fee $150.00; Last Meal
$20.00; Suit and Shirt $150.00; Funeral Home $525.00; and security overtime
$1,380.00; for a total cost of $2,225.00.
The analysis spoke to the cost of administering lethal injections, which ranged
from the least expensive method such as Texas, which used medically trained
personnel to administer the lethal injection, to New Jersey, who had purchased
a computer controlled injection machine at a cost of $18,000.

"The study found that Florida's uncounted optical scan ballots
included as many as 3,527 such potentially valid votes. If those votes
had been counted, Gore would have gained 2,206 votes and Bush 1,321--a
swing of 885 votes for Gore."

Really? Maybe your vote shouldn't count.

It's really kind of funny to see how history has been rewritten in the
aftermath of the 2000 election. What if the Republican had not thrown away
all the absentee ballots sent by registered Democrats? What if Gov. Bush
had not ordered the Florida hiway patrol & state police to turn away
minority voters by the thousand? What if the Supreme Court had not ordered
the recount stopped?

If the same things had happened in another country, the same people who
are smugly insisting that Bush won fair and square would instead be
howling and pointing at how poorly them furriners understand democracy.

Basically, what happened was that the Republican party pulled out all
stops before and after the election to have George Bush Jr installed.

And there was much rejoicing (by CEOs, oil companies, and defense
contractors).
