Not at all, one of those will skin 'em & gut 'em for you instantly. If you
can lure them close enough to the muzzle blast, it would probably cook
them too.

Hmmm, I don't think Katy is going to take to kindly to the turn this thread
has taken. Was it one of the Flashman books where one English Officer turns
to another and says "Do you think I'm using too much gun?", after having shot
a native with some kind of elephant gun, H&H I think?

Cheers

I've seen the .38 bird-shot, kinda pricey, so I went with the hollow points.

Cant find it. I use 22 bird shot with my western auto 22 rifle &
scope. No cat but lots of rats on the dock. So many Im thinking up
cutting off the heads and sticking them on little sticks at the head
of the dock, perhaps that dirty ******* that wakes me in the middle of
the night by running the decks will get a clue.

He got into the green tomatoes we had ripening on the dash. Signed his
own death warrent doing that. The neighbor set out a bunch of poison
yesterday so the shooting gallery fun is most likey over for a while.
Will have a bunch of bloted staggering rats tonight, not much of a
challenge shooting at.

Ah so, I should have thought of that. But I never saw a 22 center fire
cartridge.

What's a 22B.

It's a smaller bullet (same caliber obviously but less lead) with less

charge.
To be honest I'm not sure they're being made any more.

I have 2
boxes (200) of the 22BB, we call them bird shot. Good for shooting

pigeons
and mice in the barn.

The 22BB shot I'm familiar with is a bullet, not a scatter shot. I have

some 22
shot shell charges too, we used to call it rat shot or snake shot. I've

heard
some people advocate it for personal defense because "it's hard to miss"

but a
22LR is skimpy enough for reliably taking out bad guys, bird shot would

suck for
that.

They make shot shells for lots of pistols, I used to carry them

alternating with
.38+ in a revolver. Kinda handy but again not my first choice for

two-legged
type snakes.

Unless of course you don't like your rabbit scrambled

Heh. Was goat hunting in the Mt Kaputar region some years ago. Rabbit
was minding its own business about 150m away and I had a 6mm Rem loaded
with 85gr Nosler soft nose handloads. There wasn't enough left to
bother picking up.

Sure you have, you were in the service. The .223 otherwise know in the military
as the 5.56 Nato is a 22 caliber center fire cartridge. And there are a bunch
of lesser known cartridges popular with varmit hunters.
