I could have sworn Barry Goldwater said that first.
"Poppa Pimple" wrote in message hlink.net... Those who seek absolute power, even though they seek it to do what they regard as good, are simply demanding the right to enforce their own version of heaven on earth. And let me remind you, they are the very ones who always create the most hellish tyrannies. Absolute power does corrupt, and those who seek it must be suspect and must be opposed. Their mistaken course stems from false notions of equality, ladies and gentlemen. Equality, rightly understood, as our founding fathers understood it, leads to liberty and to the emancipation of creative differences. Wrongly understood, as it has been so tragically in our time, it leads first to conformity and then to despotism. Fellow Republicans, it is the cause of Republicanism to resist concentrations of power, private or public, which enforce such conformity and inflict such despotism. It is the cause of Republicanism to ensure that power remains in the hands of the people. And, so help us God, that is exactly what a Republican president will do with the help of a Republican Congress. It is further the cause of Republicanism to restore a clear understanding of the tyranny of man over man in the world at large. It is our cause to dispel the foggy thinking which avoids hard decisions in the illusion that a world of conflict will somehow mysteriously resolve itself into a world of harmony, if we just don't rock the boat or irritate the forces of aggression - and this is hogwash. It is further the cause of Republicanism to remind ourselves, and the world, that only the strong can remain free, that only the strong can keep the peace. Now, I needn't remind you, or my fellow Americans regardless of party, that Republicans have shouldered this hard responsibility and marched in this cause before. It was Republican leadership under Dwight Eisenhower that kept the peace, and passed along to this administration the mightiest arsenal for defense the world has ever known. And I needn't remind you that it was the strength and the unbelievable will of the Eisenhower years that kept the peace by using our strength, by using it in the Formosa Straits and in Lebanon and by showing it courageously at all times. It was during those Republican years that the thrust of Communist imperialism was blunted. It was during those years of Republican leadership that this world moved closer, not to war, but closer to peace, than at any other time in the three decades just passed. And I needn't remind you - but I will - that it's been during Democratic years that our strength to deter war has stood still, and even gone into a planned decline. It has been during Democratic years that we have weakly stumbled into conflict, timidly refusing to draw our own lines against aggression, deceitfully refusing to tell even our people of our full participation, and tragically, letting our finest men die on battlefields (unmarked by purpose, unmarked by pride or the prospect of victory). Yesterday it was Korea. Tonight it is Vietnam. Make no bones of this. Don't try to sweep this under the rug. We are at war in Vietnam. And yet the President, who is Commander-in-Chief of our forces, refuses to say - refuses to say, mind you, whether or not the objective over there is victory. And his Secretary of Defense continues to mislead and misinform the American people, and enough of it has gone by. And I needn't remind you, but I will; it has been during Democratic years that a billion persons were cast into Communist captivity and their fate cynically sealed. Today in our beloved country we have an administration which seems eager to deal with communism in every coin known - from gold to wheat, from consulates to confidence, and even human freedom itself. |

Sorry Booby, the economy has come roaring back in spite
of all the Democrat demagoguery. Sure, it will take a year or two to reverse the damage done by the Clinton/Gore downturn which happened in the last year they were in office and which took three years of Republican tax cuts to turn around. But, only an idiot would attempt to place the blame for the downturn in the economy on the current administration. The facts simply will not bear out that contention. The economy's rapid growth is already starting the process to reverse the job losses that occurred during the last three years. It's really quite sad that you Democrats have put yourselves into the position on having to deny positive news in order to attempt to further your agenda of hatred for President George W. Bush. When any man has to deny reality in order to not have to reject his failed politics he is a failed man. It's that simple. It is also a waste of resources. The very people who decry the sad state of the economy actually work to attempt to make it so in the face of facts that prove they are wrong. Not only do people like you place yourself in a position to not be able to enjoy the recovery but you deny reality, make yourself more miserable than you already are, and become eaten up by hatred because you are proven incorrect time and time again. I sure wouldn't wanna live like that . . . S.Simon "Bobsprit" wrote in message ... Bwahahahahahhahahahahh! Wal-Mart Tops $1.52 Billion in One Day Neal, do you actually think that one day erases the damage of the past few years? Walmart and Target are in a life and death struggle. Sears already died twice as did K-Mart. For god's sake, man, our economy is very sick and weak. Brief surges mean nothing. We need YEARS of boost to recover, not a few days or months. RB |

Hey stupid, why not read some of the good economic news
instead of keeping your fat face shoved in a case of Big Macs? See my most recent post to your stupidity down towards the bottom of the pile. You are even stupider than you are fat and that's saying a lot. S.Simon "Bobsprit" wrote in message ... Sorry Booby, the economy has come roaring back in spite of all the Democrat demagoguery. Hey stupid, why not read some of the good economic news
Johnson and Johnson WAY down overall Merc down and in trouble Toys R Us closes stores and will lay off thousands Verizon makes deal to cut back on payroll Sales up for the year, but nowhere near the highs during clinton Euro is SMASHING the dollar US Auto Market lives off of loans KMart may not exist in a few more years Three days of good news doesn't erase 3 years of devastation. You DON'T read anything. Bush has made a laughing stock of the great USA. Have you no friends abroad? I have many. Why not check into it? RB |

![]() "Bobsprit" wrote in message ... Euro is SMASHING the dollar Excellent news unless you're going to Europe on vacation. A weak dollar helps with exports and cranks up our manufacturing sector. The handful of other idiocy you posted doesn't deserve comment because stocks rise and stocks fall, companies like Toys R Us make bad takeovers which result in losses. It's their fault not the economy's. Same goes for Merck for putting so much money on drugs that tested as failures. You didn't read the links I can tell because in one of them it stated that sales had not done so well since Dec 1983 - well before Clinton. Auto sales are doing well, home sales and construction at all time highs. You lose! But go ahead and continue to think things are bad. Go ahead and be an idiot. You only hurt yourself with your stupidity. S.Simon |

It'll take 10 years to make up for the millions of jobs

Check your figures or read the following:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...2003Nov28.html Jobs were lost mostly in the manufacturing sector due to increased efficiency. Profitability is up because dead wood was trimmed off. It's just like a liberal to think business exists as some sort of welfare program that must employ more people than needed to get the job done. Business exist to make money for themselves and their stock holders. Get used to that fact. That's capitalism and that's the system we live under. That is the system that made this country the greatest economic power the world has ever known. Lost jobs is just another liberal mantra that is as meaningless as asking where's the WMDs. The only people who care about a few lost jobs are those who are laid off or fired because they are no longer needed. Does it ever occur to these people to get another job? Nah- they're mostly liberal Democrats who think they are entitled to unemployment benefits because their overpaid, union jobs were trimmed as unnecessary. S.Simon "Jonathan Ganz" wrote in message ... Companies cannot afford to keep on dead weight. During the Reagan boom
(Clinton took credit), companies were willing to hire anyone to fill an opening without regard to the ability of that person to do the job. This led to unqualified people (intelligently challenged) being led to believe they deserve a piece of the "pie". Unfortunately, most companies cannot afford to keep unproductive people on their payrolls. It's not like we live in a communist state where everyone has a "so-called" job (even if they don't work they get their "paycheck"). In the real world one must work for a living an will only have that job as long as they produce. Many companies in the tech sector have instituted the "bottom 10%" policy. Every year, the bottom 10% producers get the boot while they continie to aggressively recruit more productive employees. Doesn't sound like communism to me. Thank God. Is Boobspit a communist? BTW, all my investments are doing great! Jonathan Ganz wrote: It'll take 10 years to make up for the millions of jobs lost since Bushy took office. "Bobsprit" wrote in message ...
