Losing the Battle

Through a series of rogue waves, bad tactics and bad weather, a storm is
blowing you ashore. There is sand. There are rocks. Engine is dead. There's no
time to get you tattered sails into something resembling an effective foil.
Behind you, your Zodiac dinghy is doing a dance, but it's still there at the
end of the tow line.
Forget how or why. You're IN THIS SITUATION. You're expecting to run aground
anytime....

What do you do? Abandon her? Try to ride her into soft sand? Drop the hook and
prey?

Not a quiz. Interested in hearing thoughts on this.

Drop the anchor immediately and start work on plan B.

Anchor, if there's enough room to make this feasible, otherwise run up on sand.

If you anchor, even if it is marginal holding, it buys time to come up with a
more proper solution. Running up on the beach may seem attractive, but more
often then not the boat is lost. Abandoning the vessel is giving up on it, and
there's no guarantee the dink is any safer.

Drop the hook. Start thinking, the passengers job is to pray.
