becoming "one" with another boat.

So your friends are incompetant too?

Actually, my friend is a "famous" J27 sailor, who's well known. He lurks here
from time to time. He's yet to damage a boat in 32 years of racing and winning.

The best bit is I imagine his grabbing the mooring and his arms
stretching like the rubber man! Can you imagine even trying?

Not surprised if he has the ability to grab a mooring while moving at
speed and hang onto it.
Does he have a blue and red suit as well?

What speed was he moving at?

Ha, I've even been known to run aft while trying to hold on to get it to
a suitable cleat! Of course I didn't have fenders to fall over!

I know a man of your experience has never missed picking up a mooring
;-)
BUT, I have got it wrong and know just how difficult it is just to
hold on..if you're silly enough to try..with any way on at all.

Surely Bubbles doesn't believe everything his heroes tell him without
question?

Ahh but wait...he's a Yank...they believe everything Bush tells em.
Maybe Bubbles is compensating for not believeing Bush?

Dunno, the one where he was out of control in a storm heading toward
another boat that he would not have been able to avoid without
grabbing the mooring!

Never said anything of the sort. I simply said he got slammed and grabbed a
mooring. I can't seem to locate what windspeed equals "slammed."

Hey Bubbles, I've damaged dozens of boats while racing,

Tripped over fenders?

Do you think Booby was recounting his friend's story when he claimed a
similar escapade? In other words he was lying again?

Nope, in our case we were getting the catalina off the dock and tried to grab
our mooring. Heavy wind caught us before we got the rode up and over. Two
different situations. He was successful. We weren't.

You said he grabbed a mooring which saved him from becoming one with
another boat!

Yup, moments later the wind was up around 70 knots. Only lasted 15-20 minutes,
but he'd have been in trouble. Catching the mooring was a good decision.
