Wake Up, Donal!
Beneteau just lost a class action suit against the guy in my yard. They will take the 39 back and refund him the full cost of the boat, including the repairs! Amazing! He sent an account of the story to Cruising World and BoatUS, so maybe it'll get printed! The entire suit was based on gel coat cracking and blistering in the 2nd year!!! Beneteau? Bwahahahahahahaha! Wake Up, Donal!

Bob, you should keep from crowing too loudly until you have a better boat than me. This insane jealousy cannot be good for you! If you didn't compare your boat to mine, you might be satisfied with Alien (despite her obvious imperfections). Regards Donal -- |

How does replacing one boat qualify as a "class action suit"? I'm also
wondering whether there was a judgement by the courts, or a settlement. From what I've been told at the yard, blister problems have been huge for Beneteau. So much so that a recent ad mentions them directly for glass related issue. Beneteau is facing quite a bit of legal fire. I have no idea of how many boats were involved. True, Subaru has the occasional lemon, but Beneteau has been plagued for years. 8 years ago I was warned away from Beneteau by yards and surveyors. 8 years later the problems persist. Any blisters or gel problems on your C&C? Mine is even older and the glass looks good. My Pearson was from 1976 and that glass looked good. Beneteau needs to built better boats and not worry about huge ad campaigns. RB |

According to "Jim" of the CandC list, most all of
the 29's had voids in the lay-up. -- ---- Steve S/V Pony Express "Bobsprit" wrote in message ... : Any blisters or gel problems on your C&C? Mine is even older and the glass : looks good. I have seen
boats of almost every brand with some sort of hull problems, whether minor or major. Mostly minor for most. But Beneteau's issues are just insane for such a big builder. While they make no pretense about being low-end, they sure don't match Catalina or even Hunter for quality. And that's a shame. RB |
Wake Up, Donal!
Why is it a shame? They seem to have a market for their boats.

It's pretty hard for your wife's boat to get blisters,

Yet another case that illustrates the benefits
of air on hulls not blistering . . . BB's boat is in the yard more than in the water. Typical wannabe northerner who huddles, shivering ashore the majority of the year and sails two or three weeks in the summer when it warms up a bit. S.Simon wrote in message ... If a situation arose where Donal's boat and your
boat were to be given away for free because their owners blew away in the wind being the fluff they are, I would chose the Donal's Beneteau over your C&C dated garbage. Because our boats only sail half the year we end up sailing three times more than you. Actually, that's not accurate as we have pretty solid clues that you only sailed your boat twice all summer! In neal's case, that would be carbon dated garbage. RB |
Wake Up, Donal!
My vessel is only out of the water rarely. Perhaps two days every
three or four years for bottom paint. It is moored and sailed in subtropical waters and has yet to get any blisters. That is the test of a good hull lay-up. The Coronado 27 is so superior in so many ways. It is as close to perfection as any production boat ever built. No wonder Bobsprit is so jealous. S.Simon Capetanios Oz wrote in message ... osmotic blisters The real test of a boat is to own it in warmer climes where it spends its entire life in the water and is sailed 12 months of the year. Answer his question Nutsy!!!
Was it a class action case or not? Was it a case in a court with a final ruling? Was it a warranty settlement by the company standing by its word? What was it? Was it another of you fictional BS stories? The public wants to know. Answer the question. You made a statement. Can you back it? Ole Thom |

Nutsy,
What kind of an answer is that? (I believe it was a class action!) The logical assumption is you made a statement without any proof or knowledge! (I only know how his boat was resolved) If you know, then tell us! Was it thru a court action or warranty? Do you have a make, model, and boat name? Do you have a knowledge of what the phyical correction was? Please inform us. As a owner of a fibre glass boat I would like to know? OT |

The
logical assumption is you made a statement without any proof or knowledge! Just what the owner told me, that he'd won back the purchase price as part of a class action suit. He was also going to settle on money spent on repairs and time lost. RB |
Wake Up, Donal!
Do you have a make, model, and boat name? Do you have a knowledge of
what the phyical correction was? It was a new Beneteaui 39 (don't recall the model #) with glass problems on deck (major crazing) and blisters (mostly small, but widespread). He also had a host of other issues with interior fittings coming loose. RB |

It's just more of the Boobs nonsense, he'll make anything up to
try and get Donal's goat, Keep track, marty. Donal's Beneteau is not from the US and it's a 1st series model. I've been told that US boats have more issues, so I'm not really attacking Donal. Try to keep up! RB |
