Wake Up, Donal!

Why is it a shame? They seem to have a market for their boats.

I have seen
boats of almost every brand with some sort of hull problems, whether
minor or major.

Mostly minor for most. But Beneteau's issues are just insane for such a big
builder. While they make no pretense about being low-end, they sure don't match
Catalina or even Hunter for quality. And that's a shame.

Good point. The same can be said for Macgregor and Hunter.

Look at that! I woke him up!

What did you wake me up for?

You have a crappy boat!
See? I saved you life!

You woke me up for THAT?? In case you suffer from some short, medium amd
long term memory problems - I'd like to point out that you have made the
same statement at least once a week for the last three years.

Geeze..... I'm going back to sleep again! Don't wake me up again until
you have something interesting to say!

It's pretty hard for your wife's boat to get blisters,
Booby, spending the majority of its life in the yard
up on jack stands.

How does replacing one boat qualify as a "class action suit"? I'm also
wondering whether there was a judgement by the courts, or a
settlement.

From what I've been told at the yard, blister problems have been huge for
Beneteau. So much so that a recent ad mentions them directly for glass related
issue. Beneteau is facing quite a bit of legal fire. I have no idea of how many
boats were involved.
True, Subaru has the occasional lemon, but Beneteau has been plagued for years.
8 years ago I was warned away from Beneteau by yards and surveyors. 8 years
later the problems persist.
Any blisters or gel problems on your C&C? Mine is even older and the glass
looks good. My Pearson was from 1976 and that glass looked good. Beneteau needs
to built better boats and not worry about huge ad campaigns.

Yet another case that illustrates the benefits
of air on hulls not blistering . . .

BB's boat is in the yard more than in the water.

Typical wannabe northerner who huddles, shivering
ashore the majority of the year and sails two or
three weeks in the summer when it warms up a bit.

My C&C 27-5 has had no blisters, crazing or delamination issues. Just
the same, one of the first things I did when I bought it was strip the
hull, and add several coats of Interlux barrier paint. I have seen
boats of almost every brand with some sort of hull problems, whether
minor or major.

If a situation arose where Donal's boat and your
boat were to be given away for free because their
owners blew away in the wind being the fluff they
are, I would chose the Donal's Beneteau over your
C&C dated garbage.

Beneteau just lost a class action suit against the guy in my yard. They will
take the 39 back and refund him the full cost of the boat, including the
repairs! Amazing! He sent an account of the story to Cruising World and BoatUS,
so maybe it'll get printed!
The entire suit was based on gel coat cracking and blistering in the 2nd
year!!!

Beneteau?

Bwahahahahahahaha!

JUst the opposite. Because our boats only sail half the year we end up sailing
three times more than you. Actually, that's not accurate as we have pretty
solid clues that you only sailed your boat twice all summer!

Quite right. You know true quality when you see it!

Quite right. You know true quality when you see it!

Now ask him if the Beneteau is as good as his Coronado and my work will be done
on this topic!
