I don't think they made all the Ray units, but they did make the first small LCD radar for Ray. The
screen display wasn't very good. The new Raymarine stuff is much better. FWIW. I had a Raytheon 10XX on my last boat, and a SL 70 on the new one; I've been happy with both. A nice Ray feature is that it plugs into Seatalk and displays a loot of info on the screen. -jeff "The Carrolls" wrote in message ... They were the manufacturer for Raytheon. Raytheon had a problem with them(Don't know what) and went elsewhere. They continued manufacturing under their own name. So they have been in the radar market for a while, just under a different name. "Bobsprit" wrote in message ... They are also newcomers on the radar scene by comparison to other brands. I don't believe JRC is a newcomer. They were building pro radars for quite a while, and also have some nicer higher end units. Calling it the K-Mart of radars is a bit extreme. It's fine for lite use, which is what most of us face. RB |
