Well, the cold weather is fast approaching here in NY and most of the boats at
City Island are now high and dry. Our first summer with the C&C 32 proved one thing: We both like taking trips and plan to do many more next season! That and a sensible upgrade to a newer and larger boat are all in the works. As for the rest of you....some can sail in warmer climates or will stretch out the season. But sooner or later it comes down to one basic fact: I have the better nav station! http://members.aol.com/bobsprit/images/ralien2.jpg And the better Home Theat http://members.aol.com/bobsprit/images/room1.jpg Now LIVE WITH IT! let's clarify this, maybe your boat is out of the water - NOT most boats at
City Island. Some of us do sail and not just sit around the dock talking bull. Well, the cold weather is fast approaching here in NY and most of the boats at City Island are now high and dry. kind of like the sailing I did this morning, and the sailing I'll be doing

I've been sailing back when you were dreaming about boats. And I can prove it by the fact that all the sailing of done from Cape May to Martha's Vineyard - I've never hit a rock or needed a radar. A sail I took this year to Block Island alone I'm sure is farther than you've ever sailed in your life and that was only a two day trip from City Island. The easy way to prove this is I'll take a picture of your empty slip this weekend from my boat (which will be in the water not like yours) kind of like the sailing I did this morning, Do you even have a boat? Now maybe someone can verify this again; just like your last boat you claimed to own. A Pearson 30 named Ghost owned by Alan Ascare and not by chubbybob. Yes, one is a C&C, but not a 32! RB |

..... In general I think Bob's a good guy. He's seems smarter than the
average joe. I'm not sure what happens to him, maybe it's the anonymity of the internet or maybe he has some insecurity to overcome; maybe he just gets caught up in the back and forth abuse. But anyway, I have a sailboat and I do sail and I will be sailing until around thanksgiving. - Yes I do enjoy sailing very much, but this year I'm looking to continue sailing as long as I can before I take the boat out of the water becasue ofthe crappy season up here in the northeast and if I amortorize each trip it's been very expensive so I really want to get my monies worth. We can solve this problem very easily: I'll be pulling the boat out of the
water around Thanksgiving, simple proof of my ownership would be for you to pay the yard to pull my boat. If I don't have a boat then you have nothing to pay for. You could even pay for the first 40' of the boat to make it easy for you and I'll pay the rest. Wouldn't you like to know. I've shown my wife some of this stuff, she's wants to know why Darwin didn't
solve the RB thing a long time ago. Maybe he gets to sail his wife's boat. You two should carpool. |

I would say that plan is in effect and is working nicely. Bob doesn't
have any offspring, does he?:) It really doesn't seem that Bob leads the kind of life that would expose him to a great deal of risk. He is certainly unlikely to be lost at sea, although there is always a chance that he may slip and fall in the parking lot of a Circuit City:) On Thu, 30 Oct 2003 20:00:06 GMT, "BE" wrote: I've shown my wife some of this stuff, she's wants to know why Darwin didn't solve the RB thing a long time ago. Better than that because there is no "us" paying only you. In about a week I'll be making plans for hauling. You can call the yard and give then your credit card number for my boat, and I will provide you with my USCG doc's, a copy of my drivers license so when you think it's someone elses, and even take you for a sail, that should cover the $4k for the storage. And if your nice I'll take you for a ride in my Ferrari, and I'll show you the copy of the doc's when you think I borrowed that too. USCG doc's, a
copy of my drivers license so when you think it's someone elses, and even take you for a sail, that should cover the $4k for the storage. 4K for storage. Even at Capri that would be a 65 foot boat. Now we know you don't have a boat. RB |
Winter
4K would be about right for a 40 footer at a Brewer's yard. $44 per foot for storage,
$16/f + materials for shrink, $10/f to leave mast in, more to unrig and store. Decommissioning engine, genset, etc. It adds up fast when you go first class. http://www.byy.com/westbrook/PPM-WS03.pdf "Bobsprit" wrote in message ... That's really cheap. Since the Canadian dollar is worth
about 60 cents US you are practically getting a haulout for nothing. But, guess what? I pay NOTHING for my water and electricity. I can step and unstep my own mast without the help of a crane. I can careen and paint my bottom without the help of a yard. I'm a real sailor while you're a semi-lubber. S.Simon "Capt. Mooron" wrote in message ... Holy Cow..... Did I say I paid that? Those are the prices at a first class marina in CT, Brewers
Westbrook - same ownership as "Capri" which RB mentions often. My marina is the "most economical" in Boston. We have such amenities as our own onsite SuperFund Cleanup crew. Security is a by-product of being next-door to the LNG tanker facility. And should I feel the need, the Asphalt Distribution Center is right around the corner. "Capt. Mooron" wrote in message ... I sail up to St. Augustine, FL where's there's four to
five feet of tide, go to my favorite sandbar back in the bay there and ground the boat at high tide. Then it's a matter of letting the tide go out and making sure the boat leans towards the high side of the bar. Then it's out with the sandpaper soon as the bottom dries and two or three coats of paint go on the side that's showing nicely. Then when the tide comes back up it's a matter of turning the boat around and leaning it the other way and painting the other side. The only place that cannot be painted this way is the very bottom of the keel. That can be done underwater though the paint never really dries very good this way.
