Not really. Moderates are rare in politics. They usually don't
survive the primary process. No wonder people were confused.

There is not much hope for California. As one of their elected
officials said, the people in California want and expect a lot of
services from the government, but they don't want to pay for them. A
recipe for discontent, to be sure. Even in this recall fiasco with
the budget deficit the number one issue, people were campaigning on
cutting taxes and increasing services. Iceberg off the starboard bow,
increase speed.....
