Default Titanium hull?

Check out Scientific American (Oct 2003) article "Alchemy of a
Supermetal" A new process for wresting pure titanium from ore may
soon make the affordable titanium hull and other sailboat components a
reality. The pure form of the ninth most common element on earth is
expensive now only because of the chemical reduction process currently
used to extract it. A few bright metallurgists at Cambridge have
found a significantly easier way to produce it. The challenge now is
to produce it in commercial volume. Might be worth investing.

Scoutthat's one reason why I'm keeping the titanium parts they pulled =
out of my leg last year...I figore that the value is going to go way up =
and I will be able to make some money...(I paid for all those screws and =
bolts, etc....why not turn them into an investment?)

Katy, you may want to sell them before these guys perfect their system
and titanium products fall into the price range of pvc (ok, maybe
aluminum). But consider that there may be as much as 663 sextillion
metric tons of it on the planet. Naturally, I can't put a price on the
sentimental value of parts you've collected, but I can't imagine they
are linked to your most pleasurable memories, lol.

Yeah you're right, a journal like Scientific American is probably
published by a Larry Flint type and bound to be written by Mad
Magazine dropouts. And if the price of Titanium is suddenly dropped to
1/5 the current price, I'm sure we'll all just keep on choosing steel
and aluminum for making our machines and our toys.

And you call me a dumbass? Weren't you the who recently embarrassed
himself by claiming that the ozone scare was a hoax, and the proof of
that was the ample supply of O3 at ground level? Jesus Horvath,
sailors are supposed to be on the ball - get with it man!
