"Bobsprit" wrote in message ... Tuesday was easily the best day of the week...sailed out to Port Washington and back making 7.5 knots the whole way. WIth your theoretical hull speed of 6.7 kn, you must have been surfing those big LIS rollers. So if you think THS is a rule, then Scotty, Donal, Neal, Mooron and everyone else here is a liar. The C&C 32 easily breaks 7 knots and so did Ghost. Setanta easily breaks 7 kts. She breaks 8 kts on a most outings when we are not beating. She even goes through 10 kts on a regular basis. 12 kts easy when there is more than 23 kts on a broad reach .... Why, two years ago we touched 15.2 kts. However, there is an enormous difference between "peak" and "average" speeds. In 5 years, and 9000 miles, I have had two hours where we averaged more than 8 kts, .... and I suspect that we have only had about 10 hours where we averaged more than 7.5 kts. You didn't "make 7.5 knots" the whole way - even if you were measuring SOG instead of speed through the water. I won't call you a liar, because I am far too polite to suggest such a thing. However, I would suggest that you review your ridiculous claim. Regards Donal -- |

You didn't "make 7.5 knots" the whole way - even if you were measuring SOG
instead of speed through the water. Winds were 15-18 knots and we were on a reach. We fell below 7 knots a few times, but rarely. RB |

I know you are repying to ****head, but, when I say I saw 7.5 kts, it was
for a few short seconds only. Normal cruising is between 5.5 and 6.5. However I did hit 7kts for more than a few minutes that particular day. Not bad for a fat 'ol cruising tub, eh? The hull speed of a C&C 32 is 50 knots? Wow... I gotta
get one of those! wrote in message ... On 19 Sep 2003 23:47:29 GMT, (Bobsprit) wrote: More boat ignorance from Billy Jane. A C&C 32 can't make 7 knots plus under power. Impossible. Oh, really? GUESS again. You calling all those C&C 32 owners liars, Billy Jane? BUSTED! RB A C&C with the right propulsion could do 50 knots under power, although your badly rotted boat would fly to pieces long before that.. BB |
