Where's the proper place to fly a Jolly Roger? The masthead? No, it should be flown from the mizzen yard. I don't have a mizzen yard on my sloop, so I guess the spreaders is the nearest to that. Port or starboard? (I plan to have the national flag and club burgee on starboard, btw.) And, am I right in thinking that it shouldn't be flown when in port? Depends on which port you're in. I'm about a mile up the water from the very port where RLS lodged after writing Treasure Island, and where he was inspired to write Kidnapped. In fact, the island that formed the basis for *the* island is about 30 miles along the coast. -- Wally www.makearatherlonglinkthattakesyounowhere.com Things are always clearer in the cold, post-upload light. |
